Generality:
Discovery tour from Antananarivo to Ifaty during 14 days / 13 nights at least but possibilities of extension depending on your request. We make 4wd or private car expedition to discover central highlands landscape until the south-west coast of Madagascar.
It’s an extraordinary tour for a beautiful approach of the country. Admiration of different landscapes: terrace ricefield, granitic massive, grassy savannas, urban agglomeration, traditional village; more activities like hiking and trekking into national parks…
Accommodation: All in hotel and camping into the parks.
Level: Open for all except to Andringitra National Park.

DAY 1: Antananarivo - Ambositra via Antsirabe.
We drive to the national road 7 to reach Antsirabe city. Landscape of lowland rice-fields, some sacred hills of Imerina, reforestation areas, villages aboard the national 7 which have its all specialties: Ambatofotsy, Behenjy, Ambatolampy… decorates the panorama.
- Break lunch to Antsirabe, a friendly city.
Antsirabe: The Malagasy Vichy
Antsirabe is located at 170km to the south of the capital. The city is a peaceful and relaxing town. City possesses long avenues invaded by rickshaws and bicycles. Installed up more than 1500m, travelers enjoy generally its mild climate. Antsirabe is also a spa center. The city is endowed with solid infrastructure and numerous architectural remains such us the railway station, Catholic Church, hotel des Thermes, thermal sources…
Afternoon: Continuation to Ambositra far from 90km by a tarred road. Terrace ricefield surmount by mounds villages decorates the landscape. These panoramas were implemented by ingenious Betsileo tribes, deemed as the most laborious population of Madagascar. The scenery changes into imposing mineral relief after a few kilometers.
Ambositra:
Denomination of the city is unknown but the town would have a historical source. Bracing air makes you spend some time in this city up on 1350m of altitude. Arts and handcrafts center considered as the “capital of arts and crafts to Madagascar”, the city offers possibility of hiking to visit artisan workshops.

DAY 2: Ambositra - Fianarantsoa via Zafimaniry village.
Ambositra-Antoetra: We pursue the national road 7 and take the left detour to reach evergreen forests where is builds Zafimaniry authentic villages.
Zafimaniry village tours:
Zafimaniry villages where stuck at the heart of forest to the south of Ambositra city. The Zafimaniry were a tribe between Betsileo and Tanala and is also a very talented artist. Typical sculpture and mosaics denote unparalleled local hereditary talent. Nothing is lost in mosaic wood, all without exception when they are treated by Zafimaniry artisans can give specific colors that you can’t find anywhere else.
Continuation until Fianarantsoa where we will find various panoramas: terrace ricefield, eucalyptus reforestation, viticulture etc.
- Overnight stay to Zomatel hotel or equivalent.

DAY 3: Fianarantsoa - Manakara tours by railway.
Transfer to the railway station. Departure by train from Fianarantsoa until Manakara to enjoy the last operational line FCE (Fianarantsoa-Coast- East) to Madagascar passing through Betsileo land to Tanala forests for finally attend the Antemoro coast.
About dozen years toil by the sweat of Malagasy people for an ingenious building; it move down and climb 42 tunnels/68 bridges framed by Betsileo vineyards, Ravinala, Sahambavy tea plantation, banana, gigantic palm trees and the tropical rainforest.

DAY 4: Pangalanes channel tours

Sightseeing day to Pangalanes channel by canoe. We follow current languishing pace with fisherman to reach the “Grotte des commissaires”.
